What’s up!

Hi everyone🌱! It's the end of the month again, which means we will be back with a new developer diary. We will update you with some amazing news regarding the Stellar community fund, as well as talk about some implemented and future app updates. Writing this certainly makes my heart beat a little faster, so let’s get into this!

Stellar community fund

First of all, Beans has won the Stellar Development Foundation Community Fund #10! We thank everyone that has supported us in this journey, and we are all very thankful to be in this position. We are super excited about this one, as that means we will be receiving a grant to support the future development of Beans. We will use the grant to keep developing the app, give support to users and support our business practices for up to a full year!

What does that mean for you? An even better optimized, fully functional, and beautifully designed app that will support free global payments for anybody in the world! That’s a pretty good deal if you ask me. 🚀

New and coming app features!

Performance improvements 📈

In the coming update, we will be releasing a very much optimized state of the Beans app. When integrating new features at such speeds, optimization sometimes falls behind. So last month we polished the internal workings of the app, which means that it should move a lot quicker and display fewer spinner and loading icons. We definitely noticed that the app worked a lot quicker and smoother!

Launch invite system ✉️

In preparation for the launch of the Beans app in the play- and app store, we are working on an invite system that let existing users invite new users. This way we keep control of how many people download and use the app, and we prevent a bank run on the app. This way we can also track referrals, which we might incentivize as well!

Multi-language support 🏳️‍🌈

In the short term, we will also start to add multi-language support to the app. We know not everyone is a native-English speaker, and to make sure everyone can use our app we want to remove as many language barriers as possible. As we are focussed on south-American countries expect languages like Spanish and Portugese to be added soon, with even more to come!

SEP30 integration 💻

Lastly, and probably also the most exciting update will be our SEP30 integration in the Beans app. SEP30 is a Stellar Development Foundation specification that enables user-friendly key management. In short, this means that you are not expected to remember a long keyphrase anymore, but you will just be able to recover your account with your email, phone, friend, or all 3. An even more exciting application for SEP30 is that you will be able to send money to an account that has yet to be created!

In an upcoming post we will dive deeper into the specifics of SEP30, and how we want to integrate it in our app, so stay followed if you want to know about it!

So what’s next?

With our current progress, we are working hard towards a launch of Beans in both the Android and iOS app stores. For the coming months, our focus will be to get an app that includes all the essentials of blockchain payment, as well as cutting-edge user-friendly interfaces that let anyone use our app. We are super excited to finally go live, and we hope that many of you will work together with us and make Beans a success!
